                   Listen to song "Over There" which shows American patriotism
                  As time permits begin Reading Like a Historian: Central Question- Were critics of
                  the war anti-American?
                  HW:  Crossword   Woodrow Wilson

Wednesday -Finish Reading Like a Historian sources
                   HW:   Answering the central question -paragraph response using primary sources for
                               supporting details
                 
Thursday-  Open Note Quiz:  sections one and two
                   

Friday-        Section three notes- whole class (Americans at war, Armistice)
                   Work on ABC Booklet (should be finished by next week-after break)



Extra credit option:   Students write a series of journal entries as a soldier in the war or a poem depicting some aspect of the war - due by Feb. 27

Monday -  Continue with section one notes (finish by tomorrow)

                  Map of Europe is due by tomorrow (from last week)

Tuesday-  Review section one notes- why Europe erupts into war
                 Section Two:  America Enters the War guided notes-

               Return/review  midterm exams including essays

Week 19 1/1/19- 1/23/15

Monday- Martin Luther King Day

    No school

Tuesday- Open Note Test- Imperialism

Wednesday- Review for Midterm.  Study Guide provided as well as choices for the essay on the midterm.  Students can bring in a 3x5 note card to the exam.

Thursday- Video:  The Great War (aka WWI)

                             

Friday- Locating and labeling the countries in Europe in 1914 map activity
                     Tests returned- corrections optional - due by 1/30

Week 18 1/12- 1/16

Monday-Computer Lab/ In class writing assignment: Yellow journalism article:  Spanish American War - due by end of week.  May be written or typed/should include yellow journalism type headlines and content covering the 5Ws

Tuesday- Video and guided questions:  Panama Canal/CNN Student News

Wednesday- Scaffolding questions on imperialism

Thursday- Complete notes packet/Review vocabulary

Friday- Red Work Book- imperialism

Week 17 1/5- 1/9/15

Monday- Introduce Chapter 22:  Video- America Becomes a World Power/guided notes questions
            

Tuesday-  Powerpoint overview and key vocabulary
        

  WednesdayThursday- Spanish American War:  research activity using chrome books in class  (complete as needed for homework) due by end of next week



Friday- Complete key vocabulary sheet in class

Progressive Era posters due today - test grade

EXTRA CREDIT:  Buffalo soldiers in the Spanish American War reading and questions

Week 16 12/15 - 12/19

Monday- Video on Progressive Era will serve to review reforms and issues as well as show visual components to this time period.

Tuesday - Project explained. Group work in class to review various reforms that benefit Americans.

Wednesday-  Review requirements of project in class/ CL to choose template for Prezi project.

Thursday/Friday- Students work on creating individual webs (graphic organizers) that detail the reforms that benefited Americans during Progressive Ea. This is due no later than Friday, January  9th after we return from our break.

Five week grade reports issued from Guidance on Friday.

Week 15 12/9- 12/13

Monday- Open Note Quiz/Section Three Notes
               HW:  Women's Suffrage worksheet
